Today we drop our daughter off at the recruiter's office so she can begin the next journey in her life. The van will take her to the MEPS station in Chicago and sometime tomorrow she will take the oath of office and board a plane to San Antonio, Lackland AFB, where Air Force basic training is held. I will be driving up in the morning to watch her take that oath and give her one more kiss and hug.
I am so proud of her for making the choice to serve her country. So proud of the woman she has become, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for her. I know a lot of tears will be shed today and tomorrow, and they are mixed tears..happiness and sadness. It's so hard to let your children go, but they need to spread their wings and fly away.
