Loss

Saturday we had to put our 10 year old Aussie Shepherd/Blue Heeler Mix, named Ginger, to sleep. It's been a very sad few days in our house. There are people out there who think the loss of a pet shouldn't be heartbreaking, but it is. We had her since she was 8 weeks old and her health declined very quickly in the past few weeks. We miss her very much. RIP Ginger.
This is Schatzie on the left, our 2 year old German Shepherd, and our beloved Ginger on the right.

Pink Slips and Glass Slippers - Book 4 in my 50 Book Challenge

Pink Slips and Glass Slippers by J.P.Hansen I got this book for my Kindle and I really enjoyed it. I found myself not wanting to put it down, but unfortunately, sometimes, life gets in the way and you have to go to work, and do other things that don't afford you the chance to read. This book is very well written. The storyline isn't all just a "boy meets girl, fall in love and get married" type of romance. Sure, that is all there too, but there is also very realistic drama..pain and heartache in the story as well. I highly recommend this book to my fellow readers, especially if you are a fan of Chick-Lit.

Book 3 in my 50 book challenge

It's only the 13th day of the year and I have already finished my 3rd book in my "Read 50 books in 2013" challenge.
Today I finished "Old Before My Time: Hayley Okines' Life with Progeria by Hayley and Kerry Okines", finishing it in just a few days. Our health is something we all take for granted and I had had this book pop up on a list of recommended reading, so I picked it up on my Kindle. I really enjoyed this story. I have heard of people with Progeria before, but I didn't really know much about the disease, other than the fact it made children age at a much faster rate than children without it. Through this book, I got to know Hayley and learn more about Progeria. This young woman has such a positive attitude in the face of so much adversity. And her mother, Kerry, speaks from the heart with her struggles to deal with the diagnosis and the fact that her first born was not expected to live past the age of 13. I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone who needs a little positivity in their life.

I track my books at Goodreads and at Shelfari and would love more friends at both of those sites. I also track my reading goals over at 43things.com. If you are a member of any of those sites I would love to connect with you.

Spirit Lockets

I love these lockets. You can create one to show your support for your children's little league team, or your college team, or really, just about anything. I will post a picture of mine soon. I have made mine with the initials of my children, and some other charms.
If any of my readers are business owners themselves, I recently joined a group called "Cup of Coffee Networkers" which is full of like minded business owners who network together and help each other out through sales, shared information, etc. I am still learning my way around, but I love what I see so far. This is not just a place for Direct Sales Reps, but for business owners of all kinds. Check it out, and if you join, please tell them that Michele Irvin Risner sent you.
